Position:  Manager-Liability Claim

 Job Summary

CHS has an immediate opening for a Manager of Liability Claims at our corporate headquarters in Franklin, TN.  Reporting to the Director of Liability Claims, the Manager is responsible for providing management of professional and general liability claims files, including assessment of liability, evaluation of case reserves, development/approval of defense strategy, and negotiations (if appropriate).

 Primary Duties:

· Supervision of professional and general liability claims files, including assessment of liability, case reserves, developmental/approval of defense strategy, direction of negotiations, etc. 

· Supervision of outside claims adjusters and attorneys.

· Establishment of files and implementation of Community Health Systems’ protocol for potentially compensable events, claims and litigation.

· Prepare and submit reports to obtain settlement authority.

· Complete documents necessary for compliance with insurance reporting requirements, etc.

· Provide assistance to hospital Risk Managers during critical and sentinel event analysis.

Required Education/Experience:

· Bachelor Degree in related field.

· Must have 3-5 years experience in direct supervision of professional liability claims/litigation.

· Experience in healthcare field preferred.

· Data base computer experience preferred.

· General insurance knowledge a plus.
